Founder of Moya Matcha

Moya Matcha is a brand of authentic Japanese organic matcha grown in the Uji region of Kyoto Prefecture, known for the cultivation of highest quality green tea for over 800 years. The Uji region is famous for its fertile soils and clean water. The green tea plants there have ideal conditions for growth thanks to hills providing good sunlight, frequent mists that protect delicate leaves from frost and high amount of rainfall.

Moya Matcha is meticulously cultivated and harvested on small family-owned organic tea fields. It is then processed locally to assure the quality of freshness to all our grades. Tea leaves are kept in special storage facilities in sub-zero temperatures before they are ground to tea powder. packaged hermetically and dispatched from Japan. This helps preserve all the qualities of the tea leaf and maintain high levels of minerals and antioxidants.

Our quality is confirmed by rigorous standards, EU-organic certification and Japanese organic certificate issued by JONA. This means that Moya Matcha is grown on lands free of pesticides and every batch is carefully checked for potential chemical residue.


Growing up as an athlete, and playing tennis at the professional level, I felt invincible! That changed when I was diagnosed with cancer at age 24. While recovering and trying to rebuild my immune system, I learned how important it is to fuel your body with a whole food diet.

My co-founder Kristel, would share her homemade mixes of superfood powders. While taking them, I felt energized, happier and increasingly aware. The more I researched, the more shocked I became to learn of my athletic-diet’s effect on the body, and how these nutrient-rich superfoods had been used by indigenous cultures for thousands of years.

Why didn’t more people know about this? I made it my personal mission to educate and inspire people to fuel their body with the best natural whole foods. Good nutrition, and information should be available for everybody!

I was playing with an idea of a healthy snack for a long time. It chased me at home, sport and when travelling. Initially, I had been thinking about dried fruit cakes but an inspiring visit of the USA and Australia opened my eyes. The very first thought of producing healthy energy bars for a wide range of consumers was born there!

I began to make my dream come true and had a vision to produce healthy fruit bars from purely natural ingredients, which not only supply energy quickly during increased activity but they will also supply body with required amount of vitamins, minerals and fiber. I have decided that we will use the best quality ingredients and maximum care to give our bars functional benefits but also unique taste.

It had taken two years before we managed to put together tasty recipes and later make the first bar. Under brand Bombus, we introduced 6 different bars on market in spring 2014.

The majority of ”health brands” only targets a small group of people, for whom candy, beer and cheat days are taboo.

At the same time, our Instagram feed is flooded with advanced yoga poses on a beach in Asia somewhere, perfectly manicured hand holding coconuts etc.

That is so DAMN old and CLICHÈE…

With a little pinch of our magic fairy dust in your breakfast smoothie or oatmeal, your breakfast will be a lot sexier, you will automatically be more fit and your mama will be proud of you. All at the same time!

CHIKA’S range embodies the energy and vibrancy of Africa, every product in CHIKA’S range has a story inspired by our heritage. However, our African roots go deeper, we source unique ingredients from across the continent.

CHIKA’S works directly with communities who grow Epa, the three-step process that turns them into CHIKA’S hand-toasted peanuts has been tweaked and refined over generations. Firstly, Epa nuts are harvested fresh, shelled and then a lightly salted water solution is sprinkled over them. Secondly, they’re dried in the sun, so the salt marinades the nut. Finally, they are toasted over an open flame in the pan. They are prepared entirely by hand.
