The Ume Charka, whose name means "plum tree” in Japanese, is a true ceramic masterpiece that originated in the picturesque city of Toki. Artists from Toki, Gifu Prefecture, use techniques dating back over 1,300 years in their work.
The bowls are meticulously crafted on a potter's wheel, giving each piece its own unique soul. The plum tree is a flower that heralds spring and a symbol of longevity, perseverance and resilience, as it blooms when the cold of winter is still felt outside. By drinking matcha from a Ume bowl, you will strengthen your body and soul.
The Ume bowl works well as a set with the Tsubaki Bowl.
