Matchawan Muku is a celebration of simplicity. Covered in a bright, almost raw glaze, it exudes calm and minimalism. The name „Muku” in Japanese means purity, naturalness, lack of ornamentation. This is an idea close to Japanese aesthetics, where beauty lies in what is calm, authentic and unexaggerated. The bowl fits well in the hand, and its wide interior makes preparing matcha simple and natural.

Preparing matcha in a bowl

The traditional method of preparing matcha tea comes from the Japanese tea ceremony. It requires a matchawan bowl, a bamboo chasen whisk, and a bamboo chashaku spoon.

Pour two bamboo teaspoons of matcha (1.5g) into the matchawan, pour in approx. 100 ml of hot water (80 °C), so that the bottom of the bowl is completely covered with water. Then stir the chasen vigorously, using M-like movements, until a thick light green foam forms on the surface. It takes less than 30 seconds. Then add more water depending on how strong you like your tea.
