The Hagane bowl is a unique matcha vessel that has gained its uniqueness thanks to its precise handcrafted workmanship on the potter's wheel. The bowl was created in Gifu Prefecture, where unique vessels called Shino have been fired in the Oroshi district of Toki City for hundreds of years. The brownish-gray tone gives the bowl elegance and at the same time highlights its origins. The color of the bowl is reflected in the name, as the word „hagane” means “steel” in Japanese. Thanks to its handcrafted design, each bowl is one of a kind, making drinking tea a special moment of the day. The bowl not only looks beautiful on the shelf, but is also exceptionally comfortable to use.

Matcha preparation in a bowl

The traditional way to prepare matcha comes from the Japanese Tea Ceremony. It involves using a matcha bowl, a bamboo whisk- chasen and a bamboo spoon- chashaku.

Place 2 chashaku spoons of matcha (1,5g) in a matcha bowl and pour 100ml of hot water (80 °C). Chasen in hand, vigorously whisk your matcha from the wrist in m-shaped, not circular, motion. In about 20 seconds your bowl should be filled with a perfect jade-green foam. You can add more water now if you like your matcha to be less strong.
